Health Benefits of Soybean Oil

 

Soybean oil, a vegetable oil, is made from the seeds of the soybean plant. It is versatile and can be used in many ways including baking, frying, and roasting. But soybean oil, which is highly refined and high in omega-6 fats may have adverse health effects.

Research shows that 0.1%-7.9% of ALA converts to EPA, and 0.1%-3.8% to DHA. Soybean oil is therefore not a good source for DHA or EPA, which are essential fats for cellular function.

You can make a simple salad dressing by mixing it with vinegar and a pinch salt and pepper. It has a high smoke point and can be used to replace other oils in high-temperature cooking such as baking, frying, and roasting.
